“What does a photo session cost?” rarely has a one-number answer—and that’s exactly why price lists make people nervous. The honest reply comes in two parts: a session fee that secures your slot, and the images you choose afterward. Here’s how both work at BEAUTYSHOTS Hamburg, with no fine print.
We work the other way around from high-volume studios. Instead of firing off a thousand near-identical frames, our photographer composes each image individually—usually 80–100 of them in a session—in a private, exclusive atmosphere. That approach has brought more than 25,000 customers to us in Hamburg since 2004 and earned us 4.9 out of 5 stars from 251+ verified reviews. Here’s what you pay, what’s included, and how to compare studios fairly.
How much does a photo session in Hamburg cost?
A studio session at BEAUTYSHOTS Hamburg costs between €49 and €299, depending on the category: €49 for CV and application photos, €59 for a Portrait session, €79 for most themed sessions, €149 per person for Business headshots, and €149 to €299 for bachelorette or bachelor party packages. The session fee covers your studio time, at least one fully retouched digital image in full resolution, and, on most themed sessions, professional make-up. Any additional images are chosen after your session, with no obligation to buy. Weddings sit outside this list and are quoted individually.
- CV / application photos: €49—one retouched image, 30–60 minutes in the studio. Make-up is an optional €25 add-on.
- Portrait: €59—one retouched image. Make-up is optional at €25.
- Beauty: €79—professional make-up and one retouched image included.
- Real Man: €79—one retouched image, with grooming by our make-up team included (skin-tone correction, no visible make-up look).
- Couples: €79—one retouched image; make-up included for one person, €25 for the second.
- Best Friends: €79—one retouched image; make-up included for one person, €25 for the second.
- Family: €79—regardless of family size, with one retouched image. Make-up is optional at €25 per person.
- Boudoir / fine-art nude: €79—professional make-up and one retouched image included.
- Maternity: €79—professional make-up and one retouched image included.
- Model / Sedcard: €79—professional make-up and one retouched image included.
- Business headshots: €149 per person—about 60 minutes per person and one retouched image including commercial usage rights. Make-up is optional at €25, with group rates from five people.
- Bachelorette / bachelor party, in-studio: €149—five retouched images, make-up for the bride, and a sparkling-wine welcome for the group, for up to six people (€15 per additional person). Bachelorette dates are arranged on request.
- Bachelorette / bachelor party, outdoor: €199 (Basic) or €299 (Superior)—three or ten retouched images respectively, for up to six people (€15 per additional person). The two outdoor packages differ only in the number of images.
Where make-up isn’t part of the package, as with a Portrait or Family session, you can add professional make-up for €25 per person. Most categories are photographed in our Hamburg-Altona studio with professional lighting and, depending on the category, a choice of backdrops and time for an outfit change or two; the outdoor bachelorette packages are shot around the city. Weddings are quoted individually—see wedding photographer in Hamburg. The complete list of studio sessions lives on our pricing page, and you can browse every category on the photo sessions overview.
What goes into the price?
A photo session price is built from four things: how long you’re in the studio, the retouching and editing that follows, whether one person or a group is in front of the camera, and whether the studio charges a flat package upfront or lets you choose an image package after your session. Those four drivers explain why two sessions with the same headline price can deliver very different value.
Why does the length of a session affect the price?
Time is the raw material of a good session—and usually the biggest cost in a studio. A Beauty session at BEAUTYSHOTS Hamburg, for instance, begins with about 20–35 minutes of make-up and usually continues with 30–60 minutes in front of the camera, roughly two hours all in. That window gives you room to warm up, change looks, and let our photographer direct you. A short, standardized format like CV photos (30–60 minutes) is priced lower for exactly that reason.
What happens during retouching—and why does it take time?
Professional image editing is skilled, hands-on work, not a one-click filter. Each image you choose is developed for color, contrast, and light, then retouched individually: skin tone balanced, lighting evened out, temporary blemishes removed. Some studios also offer a more detailed retouch, with subtle shaping, stray-hair cleanup and careful skin work, which means considerably more hands-on time per image. Either way the result should stay natural. The goal is you on a very good day, not a stranger.
Does a group session cost more than a solo one?
Not always. Couples, Best Friends, and Family sessions are €79 at BEAUTYSHOTS Hamburg, the same as a single-person session, and Family stays €79 no matter how big the family is. The price climbs only when every person needs their own time in front of the camera and their own retouching: Business headshots at €149 per person, and bachelorette or bachelor party packages at €149 to €299 for up to six people (€15 per additional person). A larger group takes more lighting, more coordination, and more images to retouch, and the price follows that work.
Session fee vs. image packages
At BEAUTYSHOTS Hamburg, the session fee is a flat price that secures your slot and covers the session itself—studio time, professional make-up on most themed sessions, and at least one fully retouched digital image. You choose additional images only after your session, once you’ve seen the results. There is no obligation to buy a package and no minimum spend.
If you do want more, the packages are fixed and published in advance: Kupfer with five images for €100, Bronze with ten images for €129, Silber with 20 images for €224, Gold with 30 images for €299, Platin with 40 images for €354, and Diamant, which includes every image from your session, typically 80–100, for €379. You choose and pay for a package in the studio at the image review—cash, debit card, or credit card. The current list is always on our pricing page.
That order matters: you never commit to an image bundle before you know whether you like the photos. If the one included image is all you want, there’s nothing more to pay.
Why do some photographers charge a flat package and others don’t?
A flat package bundles the session and a fixed number of images into one upfront price. It is simple, but you pay for images you haven’t seen yet. Our model splits the two: a session fee that keeps the entry cost low, then image packages you choose once you know what the photos actually look like. For more background on what a session costs, our companion post on what a photo session costs in Hamburg is a good next read, and the complete guide to a photo session in Hamburg walks through the process step by step.
Why professional photo sessions are worth the price
A professional photo session is worth its price because you pay for craft, not equipment: at BEAUTYSHOTS Hamburg that means individually composed images, usually 80–100 per session, professional make-up on most themed sessions, and hands-on retouching in a private, exclusive setting. What you pay for isn’t the camera—it’s the work around it. Our photographer guides you through the poses, so you’re never left wondering what to do with your hands, and the make-up is applied by our make-up team with brands such as MAC.
Quality over quantity is the promise we’ve kept for over 20 years. Our Beauty session page and the gallery show what that looks like in practice.
Comparing studios in Hamburg: what to check
Comparing photo studios in Hamburg comes down to seven questions, not one number. A €79 session that includes professional make-up, individual retouching, and one full-resolution image is a different product from a €79 session that buys studio time alone, and the difference usually shows up after the session, when you pick your images.
- What’s included? Does the fee cover make-up, editing, and at least one finished image, or just studio time?
- Is there an obligation to buy? Are you free to choose images after your session, or locked into a package before you’ve seen anything?
- What resolution do you get? Full-resolution digital files for your personal use, or low-resolution previews with upsells?
- Are the images retouched? The difference in value between individually retouched files and raw exports is night and day.
- When do you choose your images? Before the session, sight unseen, or afterward once you have seen the results?
- Who holds the usage rights? Personal use is standard; commercial use, on a website or in advertising, is usually licensed separately. With us that’s €35 per image, and Business headshots include it.
- What happens if you cancel or reschedule? Ask what it costs and how late you can change your mind.
Some studios work with flat rates and a fixed number of images, others with discount or membership models. Neither is wrong in itself, but it is worth checking whether the advertised price depends on a condition, and what you will actually pay for the images you want. Our approach is a flat session fee, images chosen afterward, and no membership required. For the pure numbers, see our pricing page.
How to book
Most sessions are booked in a few minutes online: pick your session type, choose an available slot in the online calendar, and pay the flat session fee securely—Klarna, PayPal, SEPA direct debit, or credit card all work. Your voucher and confirmation arrive by email right away. Studio sessions take place at Beerenweg 1E in Hamburg-Altona, Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with free parking nearby. There are no sessions on Sundays. Rescheduling is always free; if you cancel less than 24 hours ahead or don’t show up, there’s a €49 fee, and your voucher stays valid either way.

Frequently asked questions
What does a photo session at BEAUTYSHOTS Hamburg cost?
Session fees at BEAUTYSHOTS Hamburg range from €49 to €299 depending on the category. CV and application photos are €49, a Portrait session is €59, and most themed sessions are €79: Beauty, Real Man, Couples, Best Friends, Family, Boudoir, Maternity, and Model / Sedcard. Business headshots are €149 per person; bachelorette and bachelor party packages are €149 in-studio, €199 for outdoor Basic, and €299 for outdoor Superior. Additional images are optional and chosen afterward.
What’s included in the price?
The session fee includes your studio time and at least one fully retouched digital image in full resolution. Professional make-up is included in full on Beauty, Boudoir, Maternity, and Model / Sedcard sessions. On Couples and Best Friends it covers one person, and on the in-studio bachelorette package it covers the bride. The Real Man session includes grooming with skin-tone correction instead. Where make-up isn’t part of the package, as with Portrait, Family, CV photos, or Business headshots, you can add it for €25 per person.
Do I have to buy additional images?
No. Every session includes at least one fully retouched image, and any further images are entirely optional. You view your photos after your session and pick only the ones you love—there’s no package you’re obligated to buy and no minimum spend.
Is make-up included in the price?
Professional make-up is included on most themed sessions, applied by our make-up team using brands such as MAC. For sessions where make-up isn’t part of the package, it’s a simple €25 add-on per person. One thing worth knowing: we do make-up, not hairstyling, so please arrive with your hair already done.
Why is a professional session worth more than a quick snapshot?
A professional session buys you time, direction, professional make-up, and individually retouched images, usually 80–100 frames composed for you rather than a rapid-fire burst. Simpler offers often include less of that, so compare what’s in the price, not the headline number. You’re paying for the finished result, not just the studio time.
Can I give a photo session as a gift?
Yes. You can buy almost any session as a gift and hand over the voucher; the recipient books their own slot whenever it suits them. Vouchers are valid for three years. If you’d rather leave the choice open, our value vouchers come in €25, €50, €100, €200, and €500.
How do I receive my photos?
Right after your session you go through the images with us on screen and pick the ones you want there and then. Every session fee includes at least one fully retouched image; any extras you choose are retouched before delivery. Everything arrives as a digital download in full resolution, yours to use privately—commercial use is licensed separately at €35 per image.
